When I walked into the house, it was evident from the conversation in the kitchen that Brook, her parents, and my mom had all arrived. I peeked in, and Ava, Brook’s mom, was leaning over the counter, talking to my mom. I spotted Brook outside with Lexi; the two of them were looking around the pool area. Dad and Ian were sorting through a box of wine. They must have stopped and picked up some essentials for their stay.
I owed Ava payback for being a tattletale earlier this fall. So, I crept into the kitchen, putting my finger up to my lips so my mom wouldn’t give me away. Then I walked up behind Ava, wrapped my arms around her waist, and pulled her to me. She stood up, and I nuzzled her neck.
“Oh, Baby, I’ve missed you,” I moaned.
Both Ian and Dad’s heads snapped around, and Ava’s face flushed. Mom barked out a laugh as Ava froze. I acted like I just realized it wasn’t my girlfriend.
“Oh, sorry. From behind, I thought it was Brook,” I said to play it off.
“I’d take that as a compliment,” Ian suggested.
Ava turned around and shook her head.
“Shouldn’t have tattled on me,” I said to clue her in.
“Like that’ll stop her now,” Mom observed.
She probably had a point. Ava hugged me.
“It’s good to see you. I’m hoping you can get our daughter out of her funk. She’s been moping around without you nearby,” Ava said.
While I didn’t want Brook to be moping around, it made me feel good that she’d missed me as much as I’d missed her. Speaking of which, the door banged open, and I turned in time for Brook to launch herself into my arms.
“Come with me. I need to unpack, and I have so much to tell you,” Brook said as she pulled me to her room.
Mom snorted. I don’t think she bought the ‘telling’ portion of unpacking.

We crashed through the door, and I used my foot to close it behind us as we became entangled in each other’s arms. I decided to slow things down a little. I wanted to enjoy seeing my girlfriend again. Yes, I know it had only been a few weeks, but seeing her reminded me of what she meant to me.
“I’ve missed you,” I said in my deepest, sexiest voice.
“Hmm. I love the sound of your voice when you do that. It makes me feel all mushy inside,” she said in her gravelly tone that told me she was as turned on as I was.
The corners of my mouth twitched.
“Oh, yeah. What else do you love?” I teased.
Brook got a serious expression on her face. It surprised me because I’d just meant it in fun. For a moment, I didn’t think she was going to answer, but then a little smile appeared.
“I love your new hair,” she said as she ran her fingers through it. “Your eyes, your cute nose, the stupid grin you get when you see me. I love your kissable lips.”
Brook got on her tiptoes and gave me a light kiss.
“I love your hot body, but it’s not just about your looks. It’s how you look at me; how I know that you love me. I love all of you,” she purred breathily against my lips.
The world disappeared around us. It was like we were in the eye of a storm. We knew the eye wall was coming to rock our world in moments, and we didn’t care.
This was the reaffirmation of our love for one another. There was only her and me, and those three words—‘I Love You.’ I sometimes thought that I didn’t deserve her. Brook Davis was that rare girl of your dreams. She was someone who could be my forever girl. She could be the girl who would be my best friend, the one who made my life interesting. Every time I saw her, Brook brought a little smile to my face. She was the girl who made me forget every other girl out there. I was so lucky to have found her.
Brook ran her hands up my chest. I couldn’t catch my breath; I couldn’t think. Mr. Happy must have realized the big brain was giving him control. To his credit, he didn’t hesitate. We soon found our clothes tossed around the room, and I looked at my desire.
Holy hotness times infinity.
Our bodies came together as if we were two magnets. I leaned down and pressed our lips lightly together. Brook tasted of cherries that had just been picked at the height of summer. A surge of arousal shot through me, and my hands automatically reached for her hips to pull her tight against me. Her athletic body felt right pressed to mine. Brook had had enough of gentle hellos and went to full-on, no-holds-barred passionate kissing. I loved to make out with her. Then we broke apart.
Her eyes and mouth were so close, they were all I saw. Brook stared at me, and I stared back. I saw the moment our closeness registered in her eyes, saw the second she looked down at my lips. I whispered something that sounded like, ‘we shouldn’t right now.’ For a fleeting second, I tried to slow things down because I knew our parents were downstairs. Brook was well past the point of listening. She shut me up with a kiss that curled my toes.
