I was still on LA time, so once we got back to our room, I wasn’t ready to go to bed. Let’s just say that Brook didn’t have to drug me as she had on the flight to New York. She knew exactly what to do to make me exhausted enough to fall into one of the best sleeps of my life. As I wrapped her in my arms and began to nod off, I understood why people got married. This was exactly how I wanted to fall asleep every night, with the woman I loved in my arms.

◊◊◊ Tuesday December 20

She was cute when she snored. It was just a little one, but it made her unique in some way. I’d woken up twice last night as she rolled all over the bed. Finally, I got smart and moved to the edge to keep out of the ‘danger zone.’ I knew when she woke up because the snoring stopped. I played like I was asleep.

“Mmm, yes,” I mumbled.

I felt the bed move as Brook leaned toward me to better hear what I was saying.

“Bad, bad girl … what if she catches us?” I teased.

Suddenly, I had a pillow over my face as my girlfriend decided to smother me. I acted like I woke up.

“Wha… what?” I asked, confused.

“You were dreaming,” Brook told me.

I got a faraway look on my face and let a little smile touch my lips.

“Dick. You were totally faking,” she said as she launched herself at me to tickle my ribs.

Somehow, I landed on my ass on the floor with her on top of me. That triggered both of us to laugh.

I looked at the clock, and it was time I got up. I had to be at my first interview in an hour and a half, and I wanted to get some breakfast in me.

“Shower?” I asked.

Brook nodded, and her eyes looked at my mouth. She leaned down and kissed me. I played the Incredible Hulk, lifted her up, and hauled her wiggling butt to the shower. I let her stand and just enjoyed the fact that she was still naked. What a wonderful sight! I got the water warm, and soon we were soaked.

After our activities last night, we both smelled a little funky. Mr. Happy twitched with a satisfied throb as he came awake, the kind you get after a satisfying evening. Once he’d fully come to attention, I bent down and took her from behind.

“We’re supposed to be getting clean,” she gasped as her hands found the tile wall for support.

She didn’t complain too much, though, and soon became an active participant. We were both in a randy mood, so it didn’t take long for us to reach our goal. Mr. Happy seemed to be ready to go another round or three.

“Look at that. We’re all dirty again,” I observed.

Brook grabbed a washcloth and washed me, which gave me some naughty ideas.

“Out,” she ordered.

“You sure you don’t need any help?”

“Not if we’re going to make it to your interview.”

I seriously had to consider which was more important. Then I remembered what I’d said last night: a moment’s gratification wasn’t worth my long-term goals. I reluctantly got out of the shower to let her finish.

I ended up doing six interviews; three on radio, and three on TV. It was standard stuff and no drama today. I was surprised when Linzy showed up. I apologized again, but she gave me the cold shoulder. During the interviews, Linzy acted like we were best friends. I think she might have been a better actor than I was.

On the flight home, I waited until we were settled in before I asked Brook about her parents.

“I got a chance to talk to both my mom and dad,” she shared. “Dad said you warned him Saturday about Paulina, but he didn’t listen. He wished he had. He claims she came over and seduced him.”

I wanted to tell her that Paulina was the type of woman any guy might lose his head over, but managed to suppress that comment.

“Lexi said you had some experience with her,” Brook prodded.

Lexi was so fired. Then again, she had somehow also become indispensable. She was the best PA I’d ever had. Well, except for trying to break Brook and me up. Other than that, she seemed to be able to anticipate what I needed. That made the long days on the set almost bearable.

“Paulina needed suntan oil put on,” I said casually.

“Uh, huh,” was Brook’s response.

I had a feeling we would talk more about that later. I was pretty sure Lexi kept Brook in the loop more than she should. That was probably my fault.

“What did your mom say?” I asked.

“She said something about taking my dad to the vet,” she said, and I winced. “What does that mean?”

“She must have talked to my mom. The vet is where pets go to get fixed. I think your mom was referring to cutting off your dad’s balls.”

“Oh. That makes sense. We never had a pet,” Brook confided.

“So, what’s the game plan?”

“They’ve decided to stay in California and go to your premiere. Dad has checked into a hotel for now until things cool off,” she said and looked sad. “Do you think they’ll get a divorce?”

“I don’t know. I do know you’re in for a rough time of it for a while. This isn’t like a high school tiff that’s over within a week. They’ve built a life together, and it isn’t easy to walk away. It took a while for my mom to forgive my dad,” I shared.

“Do you think I’ll get a little sister out of the deal?”
